Jillian Mitchell
Creative Director & Resident Choreographer
Jillian Mitchell is a classical ballet and contemporary dancer, choreographer, and community leader. She trained at the Milligan School of Ballet before attending boarding school at the Harid Conservatory and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, professional division. She spent summers studying at The National Ballet School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, BalletMet, and on full scholarship at Complexions Contemporary Ballet.
She performed professionally with New Jersey Ballet, Rebecca Davis Dance (now Mindleaps), Roxey Ballet, Georgia Ballet, gloATL, Proia Dance Project, and The Atlanta Opera. She's performed many classical ballets and the work of George Balanchine, Mark Godden, Ron de Jesus, Ronnie D. Carney, Stuart Loungway, Dwight Rhoden, Jae Man Joo, Sean Nguyen-Hilton, Seyong Kim, Mark Caserta, and more. Jillian was a guest soloist at several galas, including Stars of Ballet and Broadway and Stars of Russian Ballet.
Jillian has twenty years of teaching experience at numerous academies. She has guest taught for Georgia College & State University, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Pluck Project), the University of Georgia Department of Dance, Dance Gallery Festival, the University of South Carolina, the Alabama Dance Festival, Staibdance, ImmerseATL, and Fly on a Wall.
In 2017, Jillian founded the celebrated Atlanta-based ensemble Kit Modus and developed their distinctive training technique Modus and a choreographic residency program.
In addition to creating numerous works for her company, her choreography was presented at Georgia College & State University, Georgia State University, The University of Georgia, The Women in Dance Leadership Conference, the Dumbo Dance Festival, and Jacksonville University.
In addition to working with CRB and Kit Modus, Jillian is currently on staff at The University of Georgia Dance Department. She's honored to join Covington Regional Ballet and brings a commitment to joy-filled dance, creativity, and education to students. She looks forward to contributing to the growth and success of CRB and the Arts Association and positively impacting individual students and the community through the arts.

Megan Guest | School Administrator
Megan began her dance training as a young child with Heavenly Dance Steps and Conyers School of Ballet eventually graduating from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance. She studied Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom and Contemporary dance styles as well as pedagogy, choreography, improvisational and wellness techniques. Most recently, Megan successfully piloted the first dance program within the Newton County School system where she taught K-5th grade students the Fine Art of Dancing including various styles and world dances. Not only will Megan be teaching at Covington Regional Ballet but she will also be serving as the School Administrator.

Meg Gourley | Instructor
Meg Gourley attended the University of Georgia, minoring in Anthropology and earning a BFA in Dance and a K12 Certification for Dance. She completed her student teaching at North Gwinnett High School in 2017.
From age three, she trained at the Decatur School of Ballet, where she flourished as a member of the Apprentice Ensemble and the Rug Cutters. Throughout her education, Meg studied at esteemed institutions such as the Joffrey Ballet School, Staibdance, the Governors Honors Program, and the American Dance Festival. At UGA, she was selected to perform works by distinguished guests, including Alexandre Munz, Luis Piedra, and Urban Bush Women. She performed in Costa Rica with Danza Universitaria in San Jose and danced in Voronezh, Russia, with the UGA Department of Dance.
Meg's passion for dance and education earned her the position of Head Resident Assistant for the Joffrey South program on UGA's campus and Joffrey Colorado. Additionally, she serves on the Decatur School of Ballet faculty and guest faculty for The Joffrey Ballet School's audition tour.
Meg is active in the thriving Atlanta dance scene, where she's collaborated and performed with Sideways Contemporary Dance Company, Fuerta Dance Company, Jessica Bertram, Poetica, and Atlanta Dance Collective. While studying with ImmerseATL, she worked with George Staib, Sean Nguyen-Hilton, and Sarah Hilmer, performing her peers' works and Staibdance's Moat.
Meg is a seasoned company member of Kit Modus, led by Jillian Mitchell. There, she has premiered new works by Mitchell, including Flow, Figment, and Scion, and performed work by renowned guest choreographers Mark Caserta, Christian Denice, and Yoshito Sakuraba.
Returning to her roots in Newton County, Meg is excited and honored to impart her knowledge and expertise to the students of CRB.

Caroline Grimaldi | Instructor
Caroline Grimaldi is from Covington, Georgia, and trained at Covington Regional Ballet from age three until her graduation in 2019. Under the direction of Ashley and Peter Swan, she performed in many works, including The Nutcracker, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beauty and the Beast, and The Presence of Absence. Caroline earned a BS in Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Georgia, where she was also a member of the Georgia Club Dance Team, assisting in choreographing contemporary and modern dances for the end-of-year showcase. Currently, Caroline shares her love of dance with students at Covington Regional Ballet and The Conservatory of Dance as a dance educator and rehearsal assistant. She works as a freelance dancer and trains with Kit Modus and its company members. Caroline is thrilled to be back home at Covington Regional Ballet to work with the next generation of dancers.

Nia-Michelle Reese | Instructor
Nia-Michelle Reese is from Ellenwood, GA. She holds degrees from Albany State University and Kennesaw State University, where she earned her bachelor's in Integrative Studies with a minor in Dance and Marketing.
She began sharing her passion for teaching dance in high school and continued throughout college, and she now proudly serves as a dance teacher at Flint Hill Elementary School.
With great enthusiasm, Nia-Michelle looks forward to inspiring and guiding Covington Regional Ballet students.

Raven Reid | Instructor
Raven Reid is a professional dancer and choreographer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She trained in diverse styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, and African.
At Ohio University, Raven earned the prestigious Choreographer of the Year award and had the privilege of opening a show for Juicy J. She has performed with Reed Dance II, Staycee Pearl Dance Project, and Ailey II and is currently a proud Atlanta Dance Connection company member.
She is thrilled to share with CRB students how unwavering passion and determination serve as a driving force in the world of dance and choreography.

Shelby Sharpe | Instructor
Shelby is a proud alumna of Covington Regional Ballet with over 18 years of dance experience. Throughout her training, she has studied a wide range of styles including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and aerial, allowing her to grow into a versatile and dynamic performer. After graduating from CRB, Shelby continued her dance journey at Valdosta State University, where she studied dance for two years and further honed her artistry. She is now pursuing her degree in zoology at Oregon State University, blending her passion for science with the discipline and creativity that dance has instilled in her. Shelby is thrilled to remain connected to the CRB community that has shaped both her dancing and personal journey.

Payton Wells | Instructor
Payton Wells is Covington Regional Ballet alumni with 12 years of dance experience. She's thrilled to continue her journey at CRB as an educator. Payton is entering her sophomore year at Georgia Military College's Madison campus and looks forward to this year's possibilities for the CRB students.

Kashoua Xiong | Instructor
Kashoua Xiong has been a part of the Covington Regional Ballet family for 10 years. She began as a student dancer with CRB as a young girl and graduated two years ago, with her final performance being The Wizard of Oz. During her senior year of high school, she discovered her love for teaching dance and has continued to share her passion for the performing arts at CRB ever since. Outside of the studio, Kashoua is pursuing ABO and NCLE licensing and certification to become an optician, with hopes of one day entering optometry school.
